Boyle Lecture 2021: Prof. Tom McLeish

Topic: “The Rediscovery of Contemplation Through Science”

The International Society for Science and Religion (ISSR) is pleased to present the 2021 Boyle Lecture, given by Professor Tom McLeish, Professor of Natural Philosophy at the University of York. Professor McLeish seeks to “understand science theologically” and argues that “we have been looking the wrong way for over three centuries”. He advocates for a contemplative, imaginative, and culturally engaged approach to science, and discusses the notion of reading ‘the Book of Nature’. He suggests that we might “read the world not as prose but as poetry.”
